SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the CEO, the Director of Engineering leads the project engineering function of the business; supports, creates, and provides customer solutions; and assists in internal product and process improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develops and leads engineering team through best business practices, mentorship, and guidance. Plans, organizes, and schedules the work of the department employees.
- Implements long-range and short-term strategies and operating policies to achieve established departmental goals & objectives.
- Directly supervises the workforce to ensure proper engineering principles and applications are followed and customer specifications are met.
- Provides internal product and process improvement recommendations; coaches and mentors technical support teams to ensure the success of improvements.
- Work with Sales Team and Customers to provide technical and sales support for new product development.
- Lead key customer projects that will generate significant new revenue.
- Travels to customers to teach, coach, and offer economic alternatives to new and existing designs.
- Participates in capital planning, helping define capital projects, equipment purchases, and technological advances.
- Provides leadership and technical expertise across the capital process from research and development activities through selection, purchase, and installation of new equipment.
- Conduct formalized training that pertains to customer best practices and engineering solutions.
- Ensures that product evaluations are conducted accurately and timely to continuously meet quality and functionality requirements and specifications of customers.
- Provide administrative support on projects from conception through design.
- Research new technologies to improve engineering efficiency.
- Keeps up to date on new developments in the field of engineering or product design.
- Design manufacturing processes and products.
- Participates in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, and ensure the continuous improvement of processes and methods.
- Evaluates new software tools.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Adhere to all Jor-Mac and OSHA safety-related work rules and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree preferred; with a minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of related experience in an Engineering position.
- Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication required.
- Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Effectively present information and respond to all questions.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train and mentor others.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Ability to understand work orders and follow procedures.
- Must have the ability to travel up to 35% of the time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required to sit, talk, and hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with both hands/arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
This position is office-based; however, time and interaction with customers and on the production floor will occur frequently.
