SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Plans, lays out and performs all bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair fixtures, tools, gauges, machine attachments, and mechanisms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Designs production-related tooling from the initial concept to the finished part.
- Accurately completes the design and detail of error proofed weld fixtures, assembly fixtures, gauges, machining fixtures, as well as sheet metal fabrication templates.
- Works with engineering, quality, and others to develop tooling for new products and processes.
- Uses knowledge of metalworking techniques to help the engineering department apply new and inventive solutions to the products.
- Assists in various problem-solving and documenting solutions as well as resolving quality issues that arise in different production areas.
- Assists tooling and fabrication leadership in the efficient management and scheduling of the department including troubleshooting in the fabrication department on various types of metal processing machinery.
- Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures related to the fixture design process; making sure that the tools and fixtures are placed on a maintenance schedule to reduce quality issues or production delays.
- Lead or assist in Kaizen-related activities, including 5S, Flow events, set-up reduction events, and capacity studies.
- Participate in continuing education programs to keep current with changing technologies.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with a dedicated team in a fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment.
- Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and requirements, as well as Jor-Mac company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
- Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD or Solid Works design software.
- Experience in designing and detailing welding fixtures, gauges, machining fixtures, and sheet metal fabrication templates.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Hands-on experience welding different materials, primarily the use of MIG welding is preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of different machining processes, such as mills, lathes, grinding and laser cutting.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Customer-oriented and mild-mannered.
